Crispy Fried Chicken Recipe

Almost everyone loves a delicious piece of hot (or cold) crispy fried chicken and my family is no exception! If it was up to them, fried chicken is one of those foods they can eat every day. For this reason, I have several ways in which I make fried chicken.

Every cook has their own recipe for fried chicken and getting them to tell you the actual ingredients is nearly impossible. My absolute best fried chicken I ever had was made by my great-grandmother. She shared the recipe with me but it still does not taste the way hers did!

I’m sharing one of my family favorite recipes for crispy fried chicken. It is delicious and has a smoky (turmeric and paprika) kick (mustard powder) to it.

If you make it for you and your family, come back and let me know how it turns out. Enjoy!

YOU WILL NEED:

·         Chicken Wings (drums & flats)

·         Lemon

·         Corn Starch

·         Sour cream

·         Fresh Curly Parsley

·         Season Salt

·         Garlic Powder

·         Onion Salt

·         Dried Parsley

·         Italian Seasoning

·         Mustard Powder

·         Turmeric Powder

·         Smoked Paprika

DIRECTIONS

1.        First thing you do is wash your chicken. If you want delicious chicken, it starts with clean chicken.

2.       Get a bowl for brining and place chicken in it. Make sure the bowl is big enough so chicken can brine evenly. Cover chicken completely with water.  Massage the lemon to soften it up. Zest half the lemon and place zest in the water. Squeeze the lemon over the chicken, then cut up lemon and place halves in water. Add in salt and Italian seasoning and give it a mix. Cover with plastic and place in the refrigerator. The longer the better!

3.       Drain chicken and pat dry with a paper towel. Add in the rest of the dry seasoning and herbs (excluding sea salt and Italian seasoning) and massage thoroughly. Season the chicken based on you and your family’s health needs.

4.       Add in fresh cut curly parsley and 3 tbsp.’s of sour cream and mix together. Cover with plastic and place in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

5.       Place cornstarch in a brown bag (plastic works too!) with season salt, smoked paprika and dried parsley. Shake to mix. Add chicken and fry until done.

Enjoy.
